Dr. Mody Alkhalaf

Director of Social and Cultural Affairs, Saudi Cultural Mission, the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia

Dr. Alkhalaf holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh (2003). She started her career as a professor of Linguistics and taught at Princess Nora University. Prince Sultan University, and the Arab Open University in Riyadh.

Dr. Alkhalaf is a member of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages-Arabia, (TESOL) International; the Saudi Association of Languages and Transition; and the National Committee for Education Technology and Information Technology of the Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In addition to her interests in language, Dr. Alkhalaf is also an advocate for women’s rights in Saudi Arabia. She has written for Arab News on women’s rights and is currently Editor in Chief of Al-Mubtaath (“The Scholar”), a monthly magazine launched in 1978 by the Saudi Cultural Mission that covers a range of topics of interest to Saudi students in the United States.
